Verbpublishing
NounSingular publishing Plural uncountable publishing (uncountable)
From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. Publishing is the process of production and dissemination of literature or information – the activity of making information available for public view. In some cases authors may be their own publishers, meaning: originators and developers of content also provide media to deliver and display the content. Traditionally, the term refers to the distribution of printed works such as books (the "book trade") and newspapers. With the advent of digital information systems and the Internet, the scope of publishing has expanded to include electronic resources, such as the electronic versions of books and periodicals, as well as websites, blogs, video games and the like. Publishing includes: the stages of the development, acquisition, copyediting, graphic design, production – printing (and its electronic equivalents), and marketing and distribution of newspapers, magazines, books, literary works, musical works, software and other works dealing with information, including the electronic media. Publication is also important as a legal concept: (1) as the process of giving formal notice to the world of a significant intention, for example, to marry or enter bankruptcy; (2) as the essential precondition of being able to claim defamation; that is, the alleged libel must have been published, and (3) for copyright purposes, where there is a difference in the protection of published and unpublished works. GNU Free Documentation License Can someone help me with publishing my fanfiction? Q. I want to publish my story but I don't know how to go about doing it. I see many websites on publishing but it's all so confusing & overwhelming. Most of them that I saw were contests. I want to earn money cuz I'm planning to be a writer someday. It doesn't say how much you'd get for your stories (well I know noone really knows but maybe I could get an idea). I am fooled by the word 'publish'. I can see that it doesn't always mean you earn money for your stories. One site talks about paying $100 for books with your custom cover but I don't know if I can afford that. Plus, why pay that much money when I'm not sure if I'm gonna get that much for it? I'm just asking for a cheap place. I guess it's never possible to publish for free and earn… [cont.] Asked by PrinceJDrakeshoney - Tue Feb 28 20:28:49 2006 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. you can go to any publishing company and ask them about that... if your story is interesting, they'll agree to publish your story. Does your book have to be copywrited? Once you get an ebook together, how do you go about publishing and placing it for sale? Then you should come up with a name to have the book published under even if you don't want to have a company or find a publisher. 3. Then you need to copyright it at www.copyright.gov 4. Then you can submit your work in your word processor format to amazon.com. They can turn it into the format that people can download. You can set your price at around 7-10 dollars (see what like things cost). 5. Don't forget to market, tell people you wrote the book and maybe you can have a website on it. This is the run down, just make sure you get it professionally edited and this of course will cost money up front. Copyright, editing,… [cont.] Answered by Jackie - Sat May 17 18:00:31 2008 What are some good, reliable, reputable and preferably inexpensive poetry book publishing sites?
Q. I am currently trying to get a book of my poems published. And how do I go about the process of publishing and marketing my books? I would love to make a career out of writing and possibly earn a good reputation and make some money. Any suggestions or tips for any of these fields/questions? I would really appreciate it. Thank you. Asked by Danielle Hossain Lota - Wed Apr 2 00:18:10 2008 - - 2 Answers - 1 Comments A. I hate to be the one to say this to you, but will find it is next to impossible to publish poetry. The odds of someone making a living as a poet are astronomical - worse than astronomical. Poetry is Just not a big seller anymore. Prove it to yourself. Go to the biggest bookstore you know and ask to see the poetry section. After you dust the books off, count them. There won't be many and most of them will be from established and old poets. Now go to the New Fiction section and see how many books are there. About 50 times as many as poetry. Because they SELL. Stores cost money to rent. A bookstore has to ration its selling space accordingly to what they can sell to meet their overhead. They simply cannot devote a lot of square footage… [cont.] Answered by Persiphone_Hellecat - Wed Apr 2 00:23:51 2008 From Yahoo Answer Search: "publishing" The Spiritual Life as the Natural Life in 'The Songbird in My Heart'
