Law reform is the process of examining existing laws, and advocating and implementing changes in a legal system, usually with the aim of enhancing justice or efficiency.

Intimately related are law reform bodies or law commissions, which are organisations set up to facilitate law reform. Law reform bodies carry out research and recommend ways to simplify and modernize the law. Many law reform bodies are statutory corporations set up by governments, although they are usually independent from government control, providing intellectual independence to accurately reflect and report on how the law should progress.

Law reform activities can include preparation and presentation of cases in court in order to change the common law; lobbying of government officials in order to change legislation; and research or writing that helps to establish an empirical basis for other law reform activities.

The four main methods in reforming law; Repeal (get rid of a law), Creation of new law, Consolidation (change existing law) and Codification.

how does a person or persons lobby for law reform if they are not a lobbiest by profession?
Q. If a large group of people are seeking a change in a law, what avenues are available to them to begin the process? Are there any organizations that assist in doing this? This group would be average citizens, not professional lobbiests.

A. Find out if there are any organisations who support your cause. For instance if you're lobbying for an environmental issue contact greenpeace or a similar organisation. If the organisation is also interested - you've already got more numbers and someone else can handle the planning. If not, try writing letters to politicians explaining why you're seeking law reform. Get signatures for a petition and present it to said politician. See if there's a politician who agrees with you and is willing to discuss the issue in Parliament. Get some media attention - write press releases and send it to major newspapers as well as local. Stage a protest and try and get some media coverage. Organise a public meeting in your community to discuss… [cont.]

What are the chances of the GOP repealing the Health Care Reform law?
Q. Alf Landon (who you probably never heard of) ran against FDR on the campaign to repeal the unspeakable horror of the socialist, bureaucratic, unconstitutional legislation called Social Security. There is a good chance you know the results of his glorious campaign. He still had a better chance of winning than the current GOP cretins and their supporters who simply have learned nothing in the past seventy plus years. God speed for the GOP on their road to oblivion. Unless you have a real high school diploma please do not bother responding, nobody cares what you have to say.

A. Zero to none. And here's why: 1. President Obama is a lawyer and he has TAUGHT Constitutional Law. 2. Every legislation, before it became the law of the land, had lawsuits against it. 3. With that in mind, this bill was written to make sure that it did not violate the Constitution. 4. Furthermore, if the GOP took the time to read the constitution, they would have found out that the government has the right to come up with laws that will prevent this country's economy from going under. And as everyone has agreed, our current health care system was a burden on this country's economy. 5. Finally, the GOP is trying to say that the government doesn't have a right to demand that everyone gets health insurance coverage. Well, all… [cont.]
