A. Get a manifold off ebay for a t3/t4 turbo for your car. Also get a t3/t4 turbo with an internal wastegate set to 7psi. Buy a cool sounding blow off valve like the turbo xs rfl (sounds like a whip) or a greddy type s. Get your local performance shop to install the kit (that will include 3" exaust, and a K&N intake system.). You could spend that much easily on just an exaust, intake, headers, maybe some underdrive pulleys, and a nitrous kit. The turbo kit will give you more power than that at all times for much less. Also you dont have to do any other upgrades at 7 psi. Then if you ever want to add more power you can do other upgrades (motor and fuel, larger valves, etc.) and simply turn up the boost untill your making 400 horse at the front… [cont.]

Why does my 2005 Accord Sedan need a double din stereo and not the regular kind?
Q. Currently got a 2005 Honda Accord LX sedan and wanted to replace the stock stereo but alot of people have told me that i am going to need a double din stereo for it. What's the difference with a single din compared to a double din? Would any double din stereo work for 2005 Accord? Or do i need specific ones? Please help.
Asked by vandaluz03 - Sun Feb 15 12:30:20 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. the size opening in your dash single din is about 2 inches high double din is about 4 inches. they make adapters to fit a single din in your double din opening and they are in expensive. get the stereo you really want and if necessary the adapter to make it fit.

Anyone know how to fix a 1996 Honda Accord spedometer that only works once in a while?
Q. Our 1996 Honda Accord spedometer works only sometimes, usually at freeway speeds only. Someone replaced one part for me (can't remember which part, but it was supposed to be the major one that all Honda's have trouble with) but that didn't make a difference. I've heard there are two major parts, and now I probably need the other one? I also hear this "other" part is expensive. Anyone here have a similar problem, or a mechanic that can explain it? Thanks everyone!
Asked by computer doctor - Mon Feb 25 17:02:00 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I had the same issue in my girlfriends 97 Accord Ex. I replaced the speedometer cable and all was well. After replaceing the cable I tore the old one apart and it was heavily corroded causing it to catch. The other part would be the vehicle speed sensor in the top of the transmission on the passenger side. On the automatics, some people remove the senser to top off the fluid,If it is not seated correctly or damaged this can cause a bad reading. Both of these parts should be available new on eBay for cheap.

What does the little red light in my 97 accord mean?
Q. I have a 97 honda accord that I just purchased and there is a little red light on the left side of my car that is not marked and it is blinking. Sometimes it stops and then it'll start back up. Does anyone know what it is for? I don't want to go to a shop for fear of being abused!
Asked by vivs043 - Thu May 24 15:42:04 2007 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Hondas don'T come with "Little red lights", blinking as described, SO I'D also say that it'S a led for an aftermarket alarm.

How do you replace the front Blinkers on 2000 accord?
Q. I have a 2000 Accord sedan LX and the front right side blinkers are out. Both bulbs. Just bought 2 but after opening the hood I don't know how to install the bulbs. Do I have to unscrew the big bolt on top of the whole headlamp and pull it out? Thanks.
Asked by Guy - Thu Jun 12 13:06:08 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. you should just be able turn the socket on the back of the headlamp assembly to remove it from the headleap housing you don't need to remove any bolts or the housing. the socket should turn about 1/4 turn counter clockwise to release the tabs. the bulb will be in the socket when you pull the socket back from the housing. be sure to line up the tabs on the socket with the slots in the housing when you put the socket back in. on some cars there is a "periscope" air tube that you have to pull out to get to the headlamp housing. it will be on the passenger side. it just pulls straight up to remove it and pushes back in to reinstall it hope that helps

Which way to loosen crankshaft pulley bolt on hoda accord ?
Q. We are in the middle of trying to replace a failed timing belt on a 1992 Honda Accord and we cannot get the crankshaft pulley bolt off. Please if someone knows does it have reverse threads? We know it is very difficult to get off but we may be turning it the wrong way. Please help if you have suggestions or knowledge. Thank you. ASAP!
Asked by chattyrona - Sat Jun 21 21:33:53 2008 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. The bolt is a normal thread, counter clockwise to loosen. This is the tightest bolt on the whole car. I am a mechanic and replaced one about a month ago on a 1991 for my daughter at her house. My 1/2 inch drive air impact would not loosen it but the compressor I was using was a standard 120 p.s.i. , I ended up renting a very powerful electric 3/4 in drive impact and used a reducer to a 1/2 socket before I got it off. You maybe able to use a 1/2 in. drive impact but make sure you have a very powerful air compressor (more that 120 p.s.i.). NOTE! Make sure when you re-install the bolt to use lock-tight on the threads or it will work itself loose over time. When it was manufactured, Honda used a lock tight on this bolt to keep it from… [cont.]

How much should it cost to have a 1999 Honda Accord door fixed?
Q. I recently got in a car accident where I hit another car. It was a 1999 honda accord door. The door is dented and needs new paint. How much around should it cost to be fixed? Would it be cheaper to just get a new door?
Asked by Jennifer T - Wed Feb 20 15:29:39 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Be prepared to pay $1,000.00 for paint and labor. It's usually not cheaper to get a new door unless the damaged one is really mangled, and a new door will cost a boatload -- you don't want to go that way unless you have no other choice.

Would the honda accord or honda civic be a better used car buy?
Q. I've heard honda accords and civics are two great reliable used cars to buy. You can find fairly new models for cheap. I've heard the accord is better then the civic in todays models but what about a 2002 or somewhere around there. Also I only have about 5000 to spend, is an accord still in that price range.
Asked by John J - Thu Jul 9 23:44:39 2009 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Alright a Accord is a few thousands more than a civic but with 5,000 the best thing to do is to look for a Honda Civic Ex not lx EX go on autotrader or go on msn and click on autos then select the year you like and can afford which you may buy a 2000-2002 Civic with 5000 cash and compare it to the accord or other cars that competes with it also if you compare it on msn sometimes they give you the wrong model trim remember ex is better because you have a faster car and a sunroof and more. Hope it works out

Can you replace the automatic transmission in a 2000 Honda Accord 2.3 with a auto tranny from a 1997 Accord?
Q. I recently purchased a 2000 Accord 2.3 . The transmission is slipping and needs to be replaced. I would like to use the transmission from the 1997 Accord I have. I know they bolt right up but I hear that they don't work. Has anyone ever done this? I hear that you need to do something with the ecu or electrical?
Asked by Rob K - Sat Nov 24 12:03:36 2007 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. The controller may not be happy - which will leave you stranded. It sounds like it would be an easier job to repair the transmission instead of replacing it.

How much does it cost to replace a starter on a Honda Accord '97?
Q. Today I was driving my Honda Accord it's a '97 with 124k miles and I parked it and when I came out to go to work it wouldn't start. At first I thought it was the battery, but the radio and lights still worked inside. I tried to give it a jump, but it wouldn't even spark. Someone told me it could be the starter. Is that what it is? What else could it be? How much will it cost to replace the starter?

How much would it cost too replace the front bumper of a Honda Accord?
Q. One day while backing up from the parking lot, I hit a Honda Accord but there's a slight dent and some scratches, and i was wondering how much it would cost? They said it was going to be $800! But i don't know if thats too much to just replace the front bumper?
Asked by JpGBayAreA - Tue Jun 2 22:50:48 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Yeah these people are looking at dealer pricing and the labor to install it. You need them to get another quote. The bumper itself shouldn't cost $800 unless it's brand spankin new model. And if you were backing out of a parking spot I'm pretty sure the law will say that it was their fault for not yielding. I'd get a lawyer or take it to small claims court.

I've sold cars for years and used cars are a gold mine. just becasue dealers either get them from the auction or a trade-in so they paid a lot less then what they are asking for. a good place to start is take the sticker price and minus $4000 you will most likely end up 2000 -2500 below the price on the window questions to ask 1.where did u get this car from? auction or trade in (they pay less at the auction) 2. how long have u had this car? when dealers have cars for 2 long (usually 90 days) they send it to the auction or a sister store to sell the car 3.DONT tell them about your trade in. until the end - they will ask if you have 1 wait until the last minute to show your trade (dealers like to play with numbers and may hide money… [cont.]

A. your best option is to do a h22 swap which is a motor out of a prelude, they can be had for as little as 800-1000 or as much as 3500 or more, but it takes your bash horsepower from around 120 all the way up to 190 or even 220 if you import a h22 from japan. i have a complete h22 swap e book i can send you for free if you would like

How much should it cost to replace a starter on a 1998 Honda Accord LX?

A. I'd say the starter for that car (shops cost) is about 110.00, so with the mark up and appropriate labor 300.00 sounds about right in line.

Where should I get my Honda Accord serviced - at Dealers or other autobody shop?
Q. Some say you should get your car to the dealer for intermediate/major service, as against some say you should not go to the dealer because they charge way more and you can have same service at any autobody shop. My car Honda Accord has about 120K miles and have always been going to a dealer for service. The intermidiate service is due and I wonder should I go to dealer or try somo other auto body shops? Any thoughts/suggestions? Thanks a bunch in advance!
Asked by CuriousGuy - Fri Apr 4 12:33:23 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. The answer above me is true. Other shops work with all ranges of cars, american, german, and everything else. I'm not sure what you mean intermediate service, but if it includes bigger jobs such as timing belt jobs and other jobs then definitely Honda dealer. They know your car inside and out, literally. But for small jobs such as oil, fuel filter and simple jobs smaller shops will do the trick; but always keep in mind they may not be 100% knoweledable with your car.
